Not everyone thinks the same way about new challenges. Some people embrace the idea of attempting new things, whereas others might shy away from it. Everybody is different. In general I believe this is one of the things that helps to drive the human race forward; the spirit for adventure, for exploration, the thirst for knowledge and an overwhelming sense of curiosity. This concept is interesting because on one level it could be considered highly dangerous, even life threatening and yet we still yearn for it. Why do human beings possess these traits? With this in mind it is easy to see how making mistakes when embarking on new challenges is almost inevitable. It is also logical to assume therefore that having a fear of making mistakes will act as a barrier to change. Perhaps this is nature’s counter balance for keeping the human race from going off the cliff!
There will be instances where everybody can benefit from a little life change. Embarking on new challenges can give us a sense of achievement and purpose as well as the potential for a better standard of living. A good example might be stepping out of one’s comfort zone, stepping up and applying for a new better paid job; one that you believe will be more satisfying. Fear of making mistakes in that new job could prevent someone from applying for it in the first place.
Fear of making mistakes is a little irrational when you think about it! Firstly, everybody makes mistakes (we are all human – well most of us!) and secondly most people would consider making mistakes quite normal when embarking on something completely new. If you take on that new challenge and do it to the best of your ability then that is all that matters. We shouldn’t forget that making mistakes is one of the best ways of learning.
Totally agree. I would like to join and give my view.
